Bec Wallis
After 20+ years in traditional corporate roles within marketing, communications and PR across B2B and B2C industries, I started Leading Leo in 2024 to offer a more purpose-driven, affordable and flexible approach for Taranaki businesses as a contractor.
My experience spans local government with NPDC, the energy sector with Nexans New Zealand and Australia, major event companies and small business consultancy; bringing expertise in strategic communications, brand management, digital marketing and stakeholder engagement. My career has included senior marketing and communications roles across Australia and New Zealand, leading teams in fast-paced and high-profile environments.
Today, through Leading Leo, I provide outsourced marketing and communications support to businesses across the region and have developed a proven one-day-a-week marketing model without the cost of a full-time employee.
Under Leading Leo, I also operate the Bell Block community magazine, Round the Block. As the publication's parent company, Leading Leo oversees all aspects of the magazine, from content creation, graphic design and advertising sales to production and distribution, strengthening connections within the local community while providing an effective platform for local businesses to promote their services.

I’m Bex, a marketing professional with extensive cross‑industry experience spanning customer engagement, business operations, and digital marketing across Australia and New Zealand. My background includes roles with Universal Music Group in Sydney, as well as experience in financial services, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and community organisations throughout Taranaki.
I specialise in digital marketing, with a natural ability to create engaging content, craft authentic stories and develop campaigns that connect with audiences.
Combining creativity with strong organisational skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach, I’m adaptable, hands-on and able to quickly understand a business and deliver marketing support that makes a difference.
I’ve been with Leading Leo since May 2025 and helped launch Round the Block, Bell Block’s community magazine in October, working with businesses to design their ads and sales.

Over the past 15+ years I've worked across marketing, content creation, photography and communications in New Zealand and the United States. I have partnered with everyone from international lifestyle brands to local businesses. My experience spans strategy through to execution, but you'll usually find me behind a camera, writing copy, creating content or bringing marketing ideas to life.
I'm naturally curious, creative and practical, with a knack for jumping into a business, understanding what makes it unique and finding simple, effective ways to connect with its audience. Whether it's social media, photography, video, email marketing, websites or brand campaigns, I enjoy being the extra pair of hands that helps businesses grow without the need for a full-time marketing team.
